Designated Bus Stops are Coming!

Transpo announced that the installation of the designated bus stop signs will begin on Tuesday, October 18, 2016.

Transpo began the process of converting from a "flag-stop" system to a designated bus stop system in 2012. The designated bus stops will make the Transpo system more user-friendly, increase on-time performance, and reduce fuel consumption and emissions while improving overall service and customer experience.

Signs will be installed route-by-route. During the installation process, Transpo will continue to operate as a flag-stop system. Once a route is completed, there will be a 30-day grace period to allow customers to adjust to the new bus stops. Each stop will be clearly marked with signage indicating the routes served by that stop and a bus stop number to identify the location.

"This is an exciting time for Transpo as we move forward with this significant service improvement", said David Cangany, Transpo General Manager and CEO. "The designated stops will allow us to focus on increasing safety and service reliability while continuing to provide the vital connections to employment, healthcare, educational and recreational opportunities for our community", continued Cangany.

The installation process is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
