Transpo Announces Mobile Ticketing Through Token Transit

10/05/20 at 02:41 PM

Today, Transpo announced a pilot program for mobile ticketing with Token Transit. The pilot program begins today and provides a new, cash-free and contactless option to purchase Day, Two Week and 31-Day day passes.

The Token Transit application will provide an additional fare payment method, enabling riders to purchase and activate Day, Two Week and 31-Day Transpo passes using their smartphones at any time. Approximately 35% of Transpo riders use Day or 31-Day passes to pay their fare, and this new option allows greater ease and flexibility for purchasing passes.

Token Transit is already in use at Transpo through the City of South Bend and Commuters Trust’s Ride Guarantee Program. “We’re excited to pilot new technologies to enhance the rider experience,” said Amy Hill, GM and CEO of Transpo. “Introducing a contactless payment option also showcases our commitment to the health and safety of our passengers and community during a challenging time for the public transportation industry.”

Mobile passes purchased through the Token Transit app will be priced the same as regular paper passes. A Day Pass is $3,00, Two Week Pass is $18.00 and a 31-Day Adult Pass is $35.00. Mobile passes may also be purchased and sent to another person through the Token Transit website.

Throughout the pilot program, data will be collected and analyzed along with rider feedback to evaluate how to best integrate mobile ticketing into future ridership initiatives.
